Sitting out Monday

Williams (hamstring) is out for Monday's game versus Detroit.

Analysis

After playing 29 minutes during Sunday's victory over the Knicks, the star forward is sitting out the second end of this back-to-back set following a recent 16-game absence due to a right hamstring strain. Cason Wallace, Ajay Mitchell and Isaiah Joe are all candidates to take on amplified roles while Williams rests.

Puts up 22 points vs. NYK

Williams provided 22 points (7-11 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 7-7 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal across 29 minutes during Sunday's 111-100 victory over the Knicks.

Analysis

Williams got off to a slow start and didn't score in the first quarter, but he got hot as the game progressed and delivered his best scoring mark since returning to the lineup after a hamstring injury that sidelined him for 16 games in a row between Feb. 12 and March 21. Williams has scored at least 18 points in three of his four appearances since returning to the lineup while shooting 50 percent from the floor, but just 22.2 percent from deep, in that span.

Comes close to double-double

Williams totaled 18 points (8-16 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-4 FT), six rebounds, eight assists and one steal in 27 minutes during Friday's 131-113 victory over Chicago.

Analysis

Williams bounced back after posting a seven-point dud (2-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT) in the loss to the Celtics on Wednesday, and now he's scored exactly 18 points in two of his three outings since returning from his hamstring injury. Look for Williams to continue operating as one of the main secondary options on offense behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. From a volume perspective, it's worth noting that his 16 shot attempts were his highest since he took 17 against the Lakers on Feb. 9.

Struggles with shot in loss

Williams chipped in seven points (2-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds and three assists across 24 minutes during Wednesday's 119-109 loss to the Celtics.

Analysis

Williams was playing just his second game since missing multiple weeks with a hamstring injury, and he had a rough performance against one of the league's best defenses. Williams was coming off an 18-point performance in the win over the 76ers on Monday, so fantasy managers shouldn't worry too much about one subpar game. Williams needs to shake off the rust and be as healthy as possible with the playoffs right around the corner. During that ramp-up process, he should continue to operate as the Thunder's No. 2 option on offense, giving him a decent floor on most slates.
