Smashes 11th home run in return

Perez went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 10-8 loss to the Royals.

Analysis

A day after beginning the game on the bench, Perez returned to the starting lineup Sunday and smashed his 11th home run of the season in the fifth inning. The outfielder has been productive all month long, as he's batting .308 with four home runs, eight RBI and nine runs scored across 21 games in August. Perez also started Sunday's contest as the leadoff hitter for the first time this year, and sticking in the top spot could help his fantasy value hitting in front of the likes of Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter and Spencer Torkelson.

Beginning on bench Saturday

Perez isn't in the starting lineup Saturday against Kansas City, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Analysis

Perez will have at least a partial off day after starting in seven straight games and going 8-for-26 with a home run, two RBI, four runs and a stolen base over that span. The Tigers' outfield from left to right will consist of Riley Greene, Javier Baez and Kerry Carpenter on Saturday.

Homers, swipes base Monday

Perez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a stolen base in Monday's 10-0 win over the Astros.

Analysis

Perez extended his hitting steak to four games, and he's now batting a cool .340 across 16 contests this month. The 25-year-old outfielder is up to 10 home runs and seven stolen bases for the season, with the homers representing a new career high. If Perez remains active on the bases, he could also reach double figures in both home runs and steals for the first time at the MLB level.
