Heads to IL with bruised elbow
The Guardians placed Herrin on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to a left elbow contusion.
Analysis
Herrin was lifted from his most recent relief appearance in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Twins after being hit in the left elbow by a comebacker. X-rays came back negative, but Herrin's injury was deemed serious enough to keep him on the shelf through June 23. Herrin has appeared in 41 games out of the bullpen this season, logging a 3.06 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 27:19 K:BB across 32.1 innings.

X-rays negative
X-rays on Herrin's left elbow came back negative following his removal from Wednesday's game against Minnesota, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Herrin was hit on the elbow by a comebacker in the sixth inning, but he appears to have escaped the incident with nothing more than a bruise. He may be unavailable out of the bullpen for a game or two to recover from any lingering soreness, though an extended absence doesn't seem likely.

Hit by comebacker, leaves game
Herrin was removed from Wednesday's game against the Twins after getting hit on the elbow by a comebacker, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Herrin was replaced on the mound immediately after taking an 89.4-mph line drive off his left (throwing) elbow in the sixth inning. He'll likely be sent in for X-rays to determine whether he suffered a fracture, and an update on his status should come in the near future.
