Losing work to Baldwin
Murphy is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
Analysis
Murphy owns an .817 OPS for the season, but with rookie Drake Baldwin sporting an even hotter bat (.983 OPS), the playing time behind the dish has begun to tilt in the youngster's favor. The two backstops seem to be moving into a loose platoon behind the dish, as the right-handed-hitting Murphy has made each of his last three starts against left-handed pitching but now finds himself out of the lineup for a fifth straight matchup with a righty (Trevor Williams).

Out of lineup again Sunday
Murphy is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Boston.
Analysis
Murphy is sitting for a second straight game while the red-hot Drake Baldwin gets another start at catcher. Prior to Sunday, the pair had alternated starts behind the plate for each of Atlanta's previous eight contests. Baldwin has made it difficult for manager Brian Snitker to take his bat out of the lineup -- through 11 games in May, the rookie catcher is batting .556 (15-for-27) with three homers and eight RBI.

Taking seat Saturday
Murphy isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.
Analysis
Atlanta seems to have fallen into a pattern of alternating between Murphy and Drake Baldwin behind the plate, and Saturday will mark the latter's turn to start after Murphy went 2-for-4 with a home run Friday.

Ends power drought
Murphy went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Red Sox.
Analysis
The backstop went back-to-back with Matt Olson in the second inning off Garrett Crochet. It was Murphy's eighth homer in 28 contests this season but his first long ball since April 26, snapping a 12-game drought. With Drake Baldwin surging, Murphy may need to pick up the pace at the plate to avoid losing even more playing time to the rookie.

Resting Thursday
Murphy is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.
Analysis
Murphy will take a seat for the day game after he went 0-for-3 while catching eight innings of Wednesday's 5-4 loss. Drake Baldwin will fill in for Murphy behind the dish Thursday, and manager Brian Snitker suggested Tuesday that the rookie backstop could work his way into a timeshare behind the dish, per David O'Brien of The Athletic. Murphy has produced a strong .819 OPS over 27 games this season, but Baldwin has performed even better over a similar sample, slashing .338/.390/.563 across 77 plate appearances.
