Goes yard Sunday

Garver went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run during Sunday's 5-4 loss to Toronto in 10 innings.

Analysis

Garver clubbed his fourth home run in his last nine starts, tagging Jose Berrios for a three-run shot in the fifth inning. Though he's provided a steady flow of homers, Sunday's outing marked Garver's first multi-hit performance in 14 games. Since the start of June, Garver is batting 19-for-94 (.202) with 22 RBI.

Smacks homer Thursday

Garver went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Orioles.

Analysis

Garver didn't start Tuesday or Wednesday due to a sore wrist. He played in a non-defensive capacity Thursday and lifted a seventh-inning homer as the designated hitter while batting second in the lineup -- the highest spot he's hit all year. The 33-year-old struggled with a .187 batting average in June, though he slugged .453 with five homers, five doubles and 17 RBI. Overall, he's posted a .177/.295/.367 slash line with 11 long balls, 33 RBI, 28 runs scored and 12 doubles across 281 plate appearances.

Back in Seattle lineup

Garver (wrist) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Thursday's game versus the Orioles.

Analysis

Garver was used as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's game and is now back in the lineup after missing two starts with a sore wrist. He and his teammates will be tasked with solving Baltimore ace Corbin Burnes.

Makes pinch-hit cameo Wednesday

Garver (wrist) entered Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Orioles as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and singled in his one plate appearance.

Analysis

Garver was out of the starting nine for the second straight day after being hit by a pitch in the wrist Sunday against the Twins, but his ability to step into the batter's box and put some good wood on the ball would seem to bode well for his recovery. The veteran offseason addition, who snapped a brief 0-for-9 skid with his timely knock, could potentially find himself back in the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Orioles, although manager Scott Servais had said before Wednesday's game that Garver wasn't fully pain-free yet, per MLB.com.

Still out of lineup Wednesday

Garver (wrist) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

Analysis

Garver will sit for a second straight game after he was struck in the right wrist by a pitch in Sunday's game against the Twins. Jorge Polanco will serve as the designated hitter Wednesday and bat sixth against Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer.

Remaining out Tuesday

Garver (wrist) isn't in the Mariners' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.

Analysis

Garver will get an extra day to recover Tuesday after getting hit in the wrist by a pitch during Sunday's loss to Minnesota. His absence will allow Mitch Haniger to serve as Seattle's designated hitter while batting eighth.
