The right-hander was cleared to rejoin the big club afte he made a lone rehab appearance with Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, giving up one run on a solo homer while striking out three batters over 2.1 innings. The right-hander reached only 38 total pitches in that outing, so the Cubs are presumably preparing him to serve as a multi-inning reliever rather than as a starter.
