Logs steal in win
Schuemann went 1-for-2 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Angels.
Analysis
Schuemann has a steal in two of his last three games, though he's hitting a meager .149 (7-for-47) over his last 15 contests. He's maintained a starting role at shortstop, though his .227/.316/.315 slash line for the year is far from impressive. He's added three home runs, 15 RBI, 26 runs scored and six thefts across 63 games. Armando Alvarez is Schuemann's biggest threat for playing time until Darell Hernaiz (ankle) can return, which is likely to be after the All-Star break.

Taking seat Sunday
Schuemann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Analysis
Schuemann has gone 5-for-41 (.122 average) with a 32.1 percent strikeout rate in his past 13 games and will sit for Sunday's series finale in Arizona. Aledmys Diaz will take over at shortstop and bat ninth.

Records fifth steal
Schuemann went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one stolen base in Friday's 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks.
Analysis
Schuemann supplied a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and an RBI single in the eighth. The 27-year-old has gone 21 games without a multi-hit effort since his 4-for-4 performance in Atlanta on June 1. He was hitting .266 after that game, but he's at .226 now while adding a .630 OPS, three home runs, 15 RBI, 26 runs scored and five steals across 61 contests.

Drives in two
Schuemann went 1-for-2 with an RBI double and a sacrifice fly Wednesday against the Angels.
Analysis
Schuemann hadn't logged an RBI since June 1 and drove in multiple runs for just the third time all season. Still, his productive day could've been even better, but Kyle McCann was called out at home due to runner's interference on Schuemann's second-inning double, preventing an additional RBI. Operating as the Athletics' everyday shortstop, Schuemann is batting 14-for-69 (.203) with a 27.8 percent strikeout rate in June.
