Goes deep twice in loss
Wallner went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Monday's 10-4 loss to the Blue Jays.
Analysis
The Minnesota slugger notched his second career multi-homer game, with his first coming over two years ago July 26, 2023. Wallner popped a 419-foot solo shot off Toronto starter Max Scherzer in the fourth before returning in the sixth to slug a 423-foot, two-run homer, again off Scherzer. The 27-year-old has found his power swing in August, producing six long balls, 11 runs scored and 10 RBI with a .232 (13-for-56) batting average. In 311 total plate appearances, Wallner is now slashing .214/.322/.500 with 19 homers, 38 runs scored and 32 RBI this season.

Hitting bench Sunday
Wallner is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Analysis
Wallner doesn't yet appear to be in danger of losing a regular spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitching, but he'll head to the bench for the second time in four games while Kody Clemens handles right field. Since returning to action Aug. 12 after a stint on the paternity list, Wallner has gone 4-for-28 with a 36.4 percent strikeout rate in nine games.

Taking seat Thursday
Wallner is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.
Analysis
Since being reinstated from the paternity list Aug. 12, Wallner had started in six of the Twins' ensuing eight games while going 2-for-20 with a 3:10 BB:K. He'll get a chance to clear his head and rest up in the series finale while James Outman steps in for him as Minnesota's starting right fielder.
