Absent from lineup again
Sosa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis
Despite slugging a team-high 22 home runs in 2025, Sosa's path to an everyday role got cloudier over the winter following the additions of Munetaka Murakami and Austin Hays. The White Sox have opened the season with matchups against three straight right-handed starting pitchers, and Sosa has been on the bench to begin two of those games, going 0-for-6 with three strikeouts when he has gotten into the lineup.

Out of Opening Day lineup
Sosa won't be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Analysis
Sosa slashed .261/.314/.522 with two homers, 11 RBI and six runs scored across 51 plate appearances in the Cactus League and is expected to begin the year as the White Sox's primary DH, but he will remain on the bench during the team's season opener. Andrew Benintendi will serve as the designated hitter instead while Austin Hays, Luisangel Acuna and Everson Pereira start across the outfield.
