Logs first hold

Cantillo walked one and struck out one over a scoreless one-third of an inning in Monday's 6-4 win over the Yankees.

Analysis

A day after recording his first MLB save, Cantillo was credited with his first hold when he finished out the eighth inning. The 25-year-old lefty began the season as a multi-inning reliever but has not worked more than one inning over the last four appearances. Cantillo has allowed just two earned runs while striking out 15 over 11.2 innings.

Secures extra-inning save

Cantillo earned the save in Sunday's 5-4 win at Pittsburgh, pitching a scoreless inning while allowing no hits and one walk. He had no strikeouts.

Analysis

After Emmanuel Clase blew the save in the ninth inning, Cantillo locked up the win with his first career save in the extra frame. The 25-year-old southpaw has shined in a bullpen role, pitching to a 1.59 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB across 11.1 innings. If Cantillo keeps pitching well, he could see more chances in high-leverage situations like Sunday.
