Falls to Twins

Analysis

Cantillo allowed a run in the first inning before Minnesota added a pair of solo homers in the second and fourth. The 24-year-old Cantillo has allowed three runs in each of his three starts in the majors this year, posting a 6.23 ERA with a 1.62 WHIP and nine strikeouts over 13 innings. Promoted for Game 1 start

The Guardians recalled Cantillo from Triple-A Columbus to start Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Twins.

Analysis

The left-hander will serve as the 27th man for the twin bill, so he's likely to return to Columbus after the spot start. Cantillo recently made his first two major-league starts and allowed six runs with a 7:3 K:BB across 7.1 innings.

Charged with first big-league loss

Cantillo took the loss against Baltimore on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four batters over four-plus innings.

Analysis

Cantillo got through three scoreless frames before the Orioles touched him up for two runs in the fourth. The southpaw returned for the fifth inning but was pulled after giving up a leadoff double to Jackson Holliday, and he moved into position for the loss when Holliday scored following the hurler's departure. Cantillo did show some positives in notching 10 whiffs and issuing zero walks while recording four punchouts, but he's now given up six earned runs through his first 7.1 big-league innings.
