Saddled with sixth loss

Duran (6-6) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, allowing one run on four hits and no walks. He failed to record an out.

Analysis

The Mets strung together four straight hits to walk it off, though it wasn't a save situation for Duran in a 5-5 game to begin the ninth inning. The hard-throwing right-hander has now permitted a run in two of his past three outings, although he should remain Philadelphia's closer going forward. Duran owns a 2.35 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 9:0 K:BB over his first 7.2 innings with the Phillies.

Escapes with 23rd save

Duran recorded his 23rd save of the season in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Nationals, giving up two hits in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out one.

Analysis

One night after blowing his first save as a Phillie, Duran was back on the mound, and the Nats nearly got to him again as back-to-back one-out hits put runners on the corners. The right-hander buckled down and struck out James Wood before getting CJ Abrams to fly out to end the game. Over nine appearances with his new club, Duran has delivered a 1.17 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 9:0 K:BB in 7.2 innings while converting seven of eight save chances.

Blows first save as Phillie

Duran (6-5) blew the save and took the loss Friday, giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits in the ninth inning as the Phillies fell 5-4 to the Nationals. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Analysis

Called in to protect a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth, Duran gave up a one-out double to Dylan Crews and an RBI single to Daylen Lile to tie the game. Lile then stole third and scampered home on a J.T. Realmuto throwing error for the winning run, tagging Duran with his first blown save in seven chances since being acquired by Philadelphia. Despite the stumble, the right-hander still has a 1.35 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 8:0 K:BB over 6.2 innings for his new team, and his spot as closer is in no jeopardy.
