Scoreless outing in rehab game

Foley (shoulder) earned a hold in Triple-A Sacramento's 6-5 loss to Round Rock on Wednesday, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning.

Analysis

Foley underwent season-ending arthroscopic surgery last May and was placed on the 60-day injured list Feb. 13. The right-hander began his rehab assignment with Single-A San Jose before moving to Sacramento after just one appearance. He entered Wednesday's game in the sixth inning and allowed a double but escaped without giving up a run, throwing 11 of his 14 pitches for strikes. The 30-year-old will likely require an extended ramp-up period and remains without a definitive timeline to return to the majors.

Moving rehab to Triple-A

Foley (shoulder) will make his next rehab appearance for Triple-A Sacramento, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Analysis

Foley kicked off his rehab appearance at Single-A San Jose on Sunday, surrendering four runs on two hits and one walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning. Despite his struggles, the club has elected to move his rehab to Triple-A. Foley is likely to notch at least a few more appearances before being activated later in the month.

Shaky in first rehab appearance

Foley (shoulder) was charged with four runs (one earned) over two-thirds of an inning in his first rehab appearance with Single-A San Jose on Sunday.

Analysis

It's the first game appearance for Foley since he underwent right shoulder surgery last May. He is eligible for activation from the 60-day injured list in late May, but the Giants could ask Foley to spend additional time on his rehab assignment, depending on how he's faring. Foley served as the Tigers' primary closer during the 2024 regular season, and the Giants have an unsettled ninth-inning situation. That makes him worth tracking, but the 30-year-old will first have to prove he's worthy of high-leverage spots again.
