Regaining confidence
Young went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, three RBI and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Angels.
Analysis
Over four games since sliding past second base and being caught stealing Sunday against the Dodgers, Young has gone 5-for-14 at the plate and 3-for-3 on stolen-base attempts. The center fielder has had a rough first half overall that includes being thrown out on half of his 16 steal attempts across 58 contests, but the 25-year-old center fielder still boasts 94th percentile sprint speed and could make a big impact on the basepaths over the final months of the season if he doesn't lose confidence in his abilities.

Logs steal in loss
Young went 2-for-3 with one RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Padres.
Analysis
It's Young's second straight game with a successful pilfer after a 24-game slump on the basepaths in which he was caught stealing on five straight attempts, but his defense has kept him in the starting lineup since Robert Hassell was sent down to Triple-A Rochester on June 15. Overall, Young has a .248/.323/.297 slash line with no home runs, seven steals on 15 attempts, seven RBI, 18 runs scored, five doubles and a triple over 169 plate appearances.

Won't be given red light on bases
Young went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a caught stealing in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers.
Analysis
He's reclaimed the full-time job in center field, starting seven straight games while batting .286 (6-for-21), but Young is having major issues on the basepaths. He beat the throw but overslid second base and got tagged out by Mookie Betts on Sunday, and his last successful steal attempt came back on May 6 -- he's 0-for-5 over his 23 games, and on the season Young's gone a brutal 5-for-13. It's a huge blow to the fantasy value of a player that went 33-for-43 on SB attempts in 2024, but Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports that manager Dave Martinez still has confidence in Young's ability to contribute with his legs. "I want him to steal in that spot, down a run," the manager said after the game. "But I also want him to stay on the base. He had the base stolen easy. He just overslid." Young's defense should keep him in the lineup regardless, but given his lack of power and regular spot at the bottom of the order, he offers little to fantasy rosters if he isn't racking up steals.
