Hitting bench Monday

Davis is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Analysis

Davis had started behind the plate in four of the Pirates' last six games, going 3-for-12 with two doubles, one walk, one stolen base, one RBI and two runs during that stretch. He'll give way to Joey Bart on Monday, but Davis could be Option 1A at catcher for the Pirates for the time being.

Getting fourth start in six games

Davis will start at catcher and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Analysis

Davis has posted a .720 OPS dating back to Aug. 7 and appears to have poached more playing time from Joey Bart at catcher as a result. He'll be included in the lineup for the fourth time in the last six games.

Tallies two hits

Davis went 2-for-4 with a double against the Rockies on Friday.

Analysis

Davis continues to split playing time evenly with Joey Bart, though Davis drew a second consecutive start Friday. He has contributed very little with his bat this season, and he hit just .093 with two RBI and two runs scored across 16 games in July. Davis has seen a very modest uptick in August, going 7-for-38 in 13 games, with all seven of his hits coming in his last eight starts.
