That's now three straight two-hit games for Torres, who accomplished the feat twice during Friday's doubleheader against Cleveland. Hao-Yu Lee (lower leg) started Saturday after leaving the second game early Friday, and his presence figures to cut into Torres' role down the stretch. However, the veteran infielder served as the DH on Saturday, and he could see more time there as a way to keep his bat in the lineup while still getting Lee valuable developmental action in the field.

Torres went 4-for-9 with a walk and four runs scored across both games of Friday's doubleheader against the Guardians.
Analysis
Torres batted leadoff in both games and recorded two hits in both contests as well. The veteran served as the DH in the matinee before sliding over to second base in the nightcap. Despite continuing to produce at the plate, Torres has seen his playing time reduced recently with youngster Hao-Yu Lee (shin) seeing more time at the keystone for the 64-77 Tigers. That trend should continue with Detroit looking unlikely for a playoff spot.

Playing time could be cut
The Tigers could reduce Torres' playing time down the stretch, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis
John Peck has been called up and will be given ample playing time at shortstop. That will push Kevin McGonigle to third base most days and could result in Hao-Yu Lee seeing the lion's share of reps at second base. Torres has been productive this season when healthy, slashing .261/.364/.383. However, he's an impending free agent and the Tigers, with the playoffs looking like a long shot, want to give younger players a longer look. Torres is starting Monday's game in Minnesota at second base and is batting leadoff.
