Notches 21st save
Diaz struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings Wednesday to record his 21st save of the season in a 6-3 win over the Angels.
Analysis
He did hit two batters with pitches, one in the eighth inning and one in the ninth, but Diaz immediately struck out the next hitter each time. The Mets closer hasn't given up a run since June 2, tossing 15 consecutive scoreless innings with a 22:3 K:BB while converting eight of nine save chances during that span.

Fans side for 20th save
Diaz earned the save in Monday's 7-5 victory over the Angels, striking out three in a clean inning.
Analysis
The right-handed flamethrower hit 98.7 mph on the radar gun, as he succinctly struck out the side on just 14 pitches to lock down the win. Diaz has completed 14 straight scoreless appearances, with his last earned run given up coming June 2 against the Dodgers. Over that span, the New York closer has pitched to a stellar 20:3 K:BB and 0.71 WHIP across 14 innings. Blows save but picks up win Sunday
Diaz (5-0) was credited with the win after blowing a save opportunity Sunday against the Reds, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless one-third of an inning.
Analysis
Brought in to protect a one-run lead with one on and two outs in the top of the eighth inning, Diaz loaded the bases with a walk and a single before plunking Spencer Steer to bring home the tying run, which was charged to Reed Garrett. Diaz then didn't come back out for the ninth after throwing 16 pitches, only six of which were strikes. Not counting the All-Star Game, it was the Mets' closer's first blown save since June 2, which was also the last time he gave up a run. Over his last 13 appearances, Diaz has posted a 0.77 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB in 13 innings to go along with his pristine 0.00 ERA while picking up two wins and six saves.
