Settles in after rough first inning
Martin took a no-decision Wednesday against the Yankees, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out six.
Analysis
Martin was in line for the loss Wednesday, giving up all of his four runs in the opening inning, but the hurler taken off the hook when the White Sox rallied for four runs across the seventh and eighth frames. The right-hander has fared poorly since the beginning of June, posting a 5.84 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 35:21 K:BB over his last 10 starts (49.1 innings). Martin is hanging onto what's still a respectable 3.62 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 106:35 K:BB over 117 frames overall, but things may not get any easier with a tough assignment in Boston on tap for his next outing.

Martin didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Astros, allowing four runs on six hits across five innings. He struck out three and walked none but hit two batters.
Analysis
Martin cruised through the first five innings Friday, and he left the game having allowed one run and with the bases loaded -- all three runners came around to score on a Christian Walker three-run double later in the frame. Martin was one of the most surprising pitchers in the majors during the first three months of the regular season, but he's been trending in the wrong direction. Factoring in a nine-run implosion against the Yankees on June 16, Martin owns a 6.06 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across 32.2 innings in his last seven starts. He'll aim to bounce back in his next start against the Yankees at home.
