Placed on injured list
The White Sox placed Murphy on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to Wednesday, with a left elbow impingement.
Analysis
Murphy gave up one earned run on a solo homer in two-thirds of an inning during his last appearance Tuesday, and he appears to have come away from his latest outing with a nerve issue in his elbow. He'll be sidelined for at least the next two weeks as a result, and with Tyler Schweitzer on his way back to Triple-A, the White Sox will bring Duncan Davitt and Brandon Eisert up from Charlotte to fill the holes on their pitching staff.

Nabs first save Sunday
Murphy earned the save in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Blue Jays, allowing no hits and one walk with one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis
With closer Seranthony Dominguez unavailable after throwing 46 pitches over back-to-back games, Murphy got the call with a three-run lead in the ninth inning. He worked around a leadoff walk and ended the contest with a three-pitch strikeout. While Sunday was a step in the right direction, the 27-year-old has struggled through five appearances to open the season, yielding six earned runs over 5.1 innings with a 6:4 K:BB.
