Receives good news from MRI
Buxton underwent an MRI on Sunday, which showed left side rib cartilage irritation, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Buxton sat out Sunday's 7-2 loss to Washington after he first experienced side irritation Saturday. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli called the MRI results "good news" and said Buxton can be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener against the Red Sox.

Not ready to start Sunday
Buxton (side) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
Analysis
Buxton will sit out the series finale while he awaits the results of the imaging he underwent on his side following an early exit Saturday. Harrison Bader will pick up the start in center field Sunday, and Buxton should be considered day-to-day heading into a three-game series versus the Red Sox that begins Monday.

Getting imaging Sunday
Buxton (side) will get imaging Sunday, though Rays manager Rocco Baldelli said the outfielder was "relatively upbeat" after being removed from Saturday's game against Washington, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Baldelli mentioned that Buxton felt soreness in his side "more [while] running than anything else," which suggests at least a little optimism about the issue. Still, it wouldn't be surprising if Buxton -- who has managed to stay mostly healthy this season despite logging a stint on the 7-day concussion IL in May -- were to be held out of Sunday's series finale. The Twins should have more information about Buxton's status after receiving the results of his tests Sunday.

Removed with side injury Saturday
Buxton exited Saturday's contest against Washington due to left side soreness, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Buxton was replaced defensively in the top of the seventh inning, though his previous at-bat came in the fifth. Per Gleeman, the All-Star outfielder is considered day-to-day for now. Should Buxton need to miss additional time, Harrison Bader could slide over to log more starts in center field.

Belts leadoff homer
Buxton went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and a second run scored in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers.
Analysis
Buxton has homered four times over his last nine games, going 17-for-36 (.472) in that span. He took Shohei Ohtani deep on the second pitch of the game Monday. Buxton has put together a strong all-around campaign with 23 homers, 58 RBI, 68 runs scored, 17 stolen bases and a .292/.353/.583 slash line across 81 contests.
