Donovan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Analysis
The Mariners will keep the left-handed-hitting Donovan on the bench Sunday and go with Weston Wilson at third base while southpaw Ian Seymour draws the start for the Rays. Since returning from the injured list Tuesday, Donovan has started in four of six contests while going 2-for-13 at the dish.

Donovan is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Tigers.
Analysis
Donovan returned from a nearly three-month long absence this week, going 1-for-7 at the plate in the first two games of the series. The Tigers are starting southpaw Framber Valdez in the series finale, but the left-handed-hitting Donovan not being in the lineup could be more about easing him back into action following a long layoff. Leo Rivas is handling third base in Donovan's stead.

Activated and starting Tuesday
Donovan (groin) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and is starting at third base versus the Tigers, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
As expected, Donovan is back Tuesday after a left groin strain kept him out since mid-May. The infielder should find work at the hot corner with J.P. Crawford on the 10-day injured list due to a wrist injury. The Mariners also activated Taylor Ward and recalled Jhonny Pereda from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday. In corresponding moves, the Mariners released Rob Refsnyder and Mitch Garver, and they designated Stuart Fairchild for assignment.
