Analysis
Making his return after a two-week absence due to low-back tightness, Witt wasted little time getting back on track. He singled in each of his first two at-bats before ripping a two-run double in the fifth inning to extend Kansas City's lead. While his counting stats have taken a step back from previous seasons, in part due to the Royals' overall offensive struggles, Witt has continued to perform at a high level. Through 95 games, he's slashing .283/.353/.455 with 13 home runs, 23 doubles, one triple, 41 RBI and 53 runs scored and is tied with Jazz Chisholm for the American League lead with 30 stolen bases.

The Royals activated Witt (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
Analysis
Witt is ready to roll following a two-week absence with low-back tightness. He did not go out on a rehab assignment, as Witt and the Royals were satisfied with how things went in a full workout over the weekend. The star shortstop has slashed .279/.350/.450 with 13 long balls and 30 steals across 414 plate appearances for Kansas City this season.

Tracking toward return Tuesday
Witt (back) is on track to return to the Royals for Tuesday's series opener against the Twins, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis
Witt is scheduled for a full workout Saturday, and as long as that goes well, the star shortstop should be back in action for the Royals for the start of their home series Tuesday. Witt landed on the 10-day IL on July 22 due to back soreness, but with his pending return, both Andrew Velazquez and Tyler Tolbert will see their reps at shortstop dry up. Prior to his injury, Witt was slashing .279/.350/.450 with 30 steals, 13 home runs and 39 RBI across 414 plate appearances.
