On bench Saturday

Hays is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.

Analysis

Hays will take a seat for Saturday's contest, as Gavin Lux, TJ Friedl and Noelvi Marte fill the outfield from left to right. Hays had started in each of the Reds' last three games, going 3-for-19 with three runs scored and two RBI.

Doubles, scores twice in rout

Hays went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, one RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Phillies.

Analysis

Hays scored the game's first run in the fourth inning before sparking a three-run sixth with an RBI double. It was a much-needed effort for the 30-year-old, who entered the day just 3-for-33 with a 2:12 BB:K through nine August contests. He's slashing .253/.315/.441 with 10 homers, 45 RBI, 46 runs scored and four steals across 289 plate appearances this season and appears to be in a timeshare unless he can deliver more consistent production.

On bench again Monday

Hays is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Analysis

Hays will take a seat for the second time in three games as the Reds make room in the lineup for Miguel Andujar, who will occupy the designated-hitter spot and bat cleanup while Gavin Lux covers left field. With Hays providing a meager .565 OPS since the All-Star break, he could be in danger of moving into more of a part-time role in the near future if he's unable to turn things around at the plate.
