Rough return to rotation
Bieber didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-innings loss to the Astros, coughing up four runs on nine hits -- including three home runs -- over 3.2 innings. He struck out two without walking a batter.
Analisi
Making his first start of the season after recovering from elbow trouble, Bieber didn't look sharp and served up back-to-back-to-back homers to Yainer Diaz, Cam Smith and Taylor Trammell in the fourth inning, with Trammell's blast reaching the upper deck at the Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays will be patient with Bieber, especially given their lack of healthy alternatives in the rotation, but there's little reason to have the veteran right-hander active in fantasy leagues until he shows some consistency. He's set to make his next start at home this weekend against the Rangers.

Activated ahead of season debut
The Blue Jays activated Bieber (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
Analisi
Bieber is set to make his 2026 debut Tuesday with a start at home against the Astros. The right-hander got a late start to the season as he worked his way back from an elbow issue that had nagged at him since last season. Bieber had an up-and-down showing on his rehab assignment, posting a 6.88 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB across 17 innings. He went five innings in each of his last two rehab starts and reached 80 pitches in his final outing, so Bieber should be ready to handle around 90 pitches versus Houston.

Season debut coming Tuesday
Bieber (elbow) is slated to return from the 60-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Astros in Toronto, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Analisi
Bieber was initially confirmed to start Monday's series opener, but after Dylan Cease had his start Sunday postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago, he and the other four members of the Toronto rotation all ended up being pushed back a day in the pitching schedule. The 2020 American League Cy Young Award winner will still tentatively line up for a two-start week in his return from the IL, with Bieber's second outing expected to come Sunday at home versus the Rangers. Though Bieber should be close to fully stretched out after reaching five innings in his final two rehab outings, fantasy managers may want to tread carefully with the veteran righty after he had mixed results over his five starts in the minors. Between stops at the rookie-level Florida Complex League, Single-A Dunedin and Triple-A Buffalo, Bieber turned in a 6.88 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB across 17 innings.

Officially returning Monday
Bieber (elbow) will return from the injured list to start Monday's game against Houston, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analisi
Manager John Schneider had previously hinted that Bieber would be coming off the injured list Monday, but the team wanted to see him throw one last bullpen session Saturday before making it official. The 31-year-old righty has made five rehab appearances across three affiliates since beginning his rehab assignment in late May, posting a 6.88 ERA and 1.88 WHIP with a 14:5 K:BB across 17 innings. He threw 80 pitches in five frames during his last appearance in the minors.

Lined up for season debut Monday
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Friday that "all signs point towards" Bieber (elbow) making his season debut Monday against the Astros, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analisi
The Blue Jays are holding off making it official until Bieber throws a bullpen session Saturday, but as long as he doesn't have any hiccups with that throwing session he will take the ball in Monday's series opener at Rogers Centre. Bieber would also line up for a second start that weekend at home versus the Rangers. Coming back from right elbow inflammation, Bieber has collected a 6.88 ERA and 14:5 K:BB over 17 innings covering five rehab starts. He threw 80 pitches in his last outing, so he's close to being fully stretched out.

Stretches out to 80 pitches
Bieber (elbow) built up to 80 pitches Wednesday in what's likely to be his final rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo, giving up five runs on seven hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out two.
Analisi
The results weren't pretty, as Bieber served up homers to career minor leaguers Ryan Galanie and Andy Weber -- neither of whom are even on the 40-man roster for the White Sox -- but the veteran right-hander was sitting 91-92 mph with his fastball and topped out at 93.0 mph. With Max Scherzer (back) landing on the IL on Wednesday, the Blue Jays likely can't afford to give Bieber another rehab start to round into form. If he stays on turn, he lines up to make his 2026 big-league debut early next week at home against the Astros.
