Swipes first bag of year
Young went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to the Phillies.
Analisi
Batting eighth, the Gold Glove-caliber center fielder stole his first bag of the year after a two-out single in the sixth inning. Young hasn't seen an everyday role to begin the season as the Nationals find ways to get the red-hot Joey Wiemer into the lineup, but he's started four of the team's first six games, going 3-for-14 with a double, a homer, two runs and two RBI.

Sitting again Tuesday
Young is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.
Analisi
It's the second straight game on the bench for Young, who started the first three games of the season and went 2-for-11 with a double and a homer. Joey Wiemer, who has opened the campaign on fire at the plate, will instead start in center field while Daylen Lile and James Wood man left and right field, respectively.

Taking seat Monday
Young is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest against the Phillies.
Analisi
It looks to be a routine day off for Young, who had started in center field in each of the Nationals' first three games of the season. The red-hot Joey Wiemer will handle center field and bat ninth for the Nats on Monday.

Surprises with Opening Day power
Young went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Cubs.
Analisi
The light-hitting center fielder swatted a Ben Brown four-seamer the other way in the fourth inning, just clearing the right-field wall at Wrigley Field for the sixth homer of Young's career in his 304th MLB game. The 26-year-old is in the lineup for his glove, not his offensive contributions, after he slashed .231/.296/.287 over 364 plate appearances in 2025 with just two long balls and 15 steals in 26 attempts.
