Why is Sorare moving blockchains?

We’re moving from StarkEx (a private, application-specific Layer 2) to Solana (a public, general-purpose Layer 1).

Our goals:

  • Unlock more utility for Sorare NFTs by building on an open web3 ecosystem where they can interact with wallets, apps, and marketplaces.
  • Provide greater transparency and control, while preserving Sorare’s non-custodial wallet model.

We chose Solana because it offers:

  • Performance: ~65,000 TPS, sub-second finality, and parallel execution for true scaling.
  • Transparency: Cards live natively on Solana and ETH balances on Base, viewable on open explorers.
  • Ecosystem fit: Widely adopted wallets (Phantom, Backpack), strong developer tools, and growing adoption in gaming, DeFi, and social.

When is the migration happening?

  • Mid-October 2025 – ETH balances move StarkEx → Base (Coinbase L2).
  • Late October 2025 – First Sorare cards minted on Solana.
