Heading to bench Sunday
Bauers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
Analyse
As per usual, the lefty-hitting Bauers will take a seat while the Reds send a southpaw (Brandon Williamson) to the bump for the series finale. Bauers' grasp on a regular spot in the lineup against righties also appears to be loosening, as he was on the bench for two of the Brewers' previous four matchups with opposite-handed pitchers.

Absent from lineup in first game
Bauers is not in the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Reds.
Analyse
It's the second straight time he's been out of the lineup against a righty (and third time overall) after he had started each of the previous three contests versus right-handers. Bauers could be back in there for the nightcap, but in the afternoon game the Brewers will go with Rhys Hoskins at first base and Gary Sanchez in the designated hitter spot.

Resting against righty
Bauers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants.
Analyse
Bauers had started at either first base or designated hitter in each of the Brewers' previous three matchups with right-handers, but after sitting against Giants lefty Kyle Harrison on Wednesday, Bauers will remain on the bench for the series finale while righty Hayden Birdsong takes the hill for San Francisco. Rhys Hoskins will pick up the start at first base Thursday, and William Contreras will get a day off behind the plate and serve as the Brewers' DH.

Notches ninth steal
Bauers went 0-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Giants.
Analyse
Bauers has drawn multiple walks in three of his 14 games in August, but he doesn't have a multi-hit effort this month. The 28-year-old is batting just .105 (4-for-38) this month, though three of those hits have been home runs. For the year, he's down to a .199/.309/.386 slash line with 11 homers, nine steals, 40 RBI and 40 runs scored over 285 plate appearances. His batting average hadn't been lower than .200 since May 5.
