Analyse
Carter has now been left out of the starting lineup five times through the Rangers' first 19 games, with each absence coinciding with Texas facing a left-handed starter. Though Carter's overall volume of playing time will remain suppressed if the Rangers continue to treat him as a strict platoon player, the 23-year-old has more than held his own versus righties thus far, producing a .238/.385/.452 slash line (145 wRC+) over 52 plate appearances against them.

Carter went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Dodgers.
Analyse
Carter tied the game at one apiece in the third inning, turning on a Roki Sasaki fastball and sending it over the right-field fence for his second homer of the series. The outfielder's .233 batting average isn't overly impressive, but nine walks have boosted his on-base percentage to .365, giving the 23-year-old an .807 OPS through 15 games. Carter is penciled in as the primary center fielder against right-handed pitching.

Carter was part of a ninth-inning comeback for the Rangers, lifting his first homer of the season off Edwin Diaz. The outfielder has four extra-base hits this season, and he's also up to two steals after swiping a bag earlier in the game. Carter could be more consistent at the plate -- he's batting .237 with a .736 OPS, three RBI and six runs scored over 13 contests, but he is seeing steady playing time in center field and should stick there regularly against right-handed pitchers.
