Could be available off bench
Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said Thursday that Hill (shoulder) could be "ready to go" off the bench in Thursday's game versus the Nationals, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports.

Battling bruised shoulder
Hill was diagnosed with a shoulder contusion following his removal from Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analyse
Hill collided with the center-field wall while trying to make a diving catch in the 11th inning. His shoulder appears to have taken most of the damage, though interim manager Don Mattingly said after the game that the team still has some tests to run on Hill and will know more about his health before Thursday's series finale versus Washington.

Hill leaped headfirst into the fence in center field while trying to make a catch in the 11th inning. After remaining on the ground for a few minutes, he was able to walk off the field under his own power. Belts go-ahead grand slam
Hill went 1-for-3 with a grand slam in Monday's 6-3 win over Washington.
Analyse
Hill's first hit since July 20 was a heroic one, giving the Phillies a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning Monday. The journeyman outfielder has been effective in a part-time role since catching on in Philadelphia, slashing .275/.315/.522 with five home runs, two doubles, 13 RBI and four stolen bases over 74 plate appearances.
