No complications from surgery
Seager (abdomen) underwent a successful appendectomy Thursday and experienced no complications, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning Newsreports.
Analyse
Seager will miss at least a few weeks but could return for the final stretch of the regular season. The fact that surgery went as planned will help clear his path to return, though the Rangers would likely still need to be within reach of a playoff spot. Josh Smith is expected to be the primary option at shortstop in the meantime.

Undergoing appendectomy
Seager has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will undergo an appendectomy Thursday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analyse
Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young did not rule Seager out for the remainder of the season, but it's possible the shortstop does not return. Josh Smith will be the primary option at shortstop for the Rangers for as long as Seager is shelved, with Ezequiel Duran, Cody Freeman and Dylan Moore being mixed in some versus lefties. If Seager's season is indeed over, he will finish with a .271/.373/.487 batting line and 20 home runs over 102 games.

Seager went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and two additional runs scored during Wednesday's 20-3 win over the Angels.
Analyse
Seager saw only three plate appearances before being lifted in favor of Ezequiel Duran to get some rest during the blowout. Still, the shortstop made his presence felt, delivering a two-run homer and posting his second three-run game of the campaign. Seager has five multi-hit performances in his last 11 games, going 16-for-40 (.400) with four home runs, 11 runs scored and a 5:7 BB:K during that stretch.

Seager went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Angels.

Seager hit the 20-homer plateau for the season Tuesday, which marks his fourth consecutive year accomplishing this feat. The star shortstop has remained one of fantasy's top four-category producers at shortstop when healthy in 2025. Since the start of July, Seager is slashing .293/.396/.530 with 10 big flies, 13 doubles, 25 RBI and 31 runs scored covering his last 212 plate appearances.
