Not starting against lefty
Butler isn't in Oakland's lineup Saturday against the Orioles.
Análisis
The left-handed-hitting Butler will catch a breather Saturday while southpaw Cade Povich takes the mound for Baltimore. Tyler Nevin will enter the lineup as Oakland's right fielder, batting seventh.

Pads lead with homer
Butler went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Angels.
Análisis
Butler has homered in two of his last three games, and he's hit safely in four straight contests. The outfielder appears to be regaining control of a strong-side platoon role in right field after a brief uptick in playing time for Daz Cameron in late June. Butler is up to four homers, 12 RBI, four stolen bases and 14 runs scored while slashing .193/.272/.317 through 162 plate appearances this season.

Powers offense Tuesday
Butler went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Angels.
Análisis
This was Butler's first multi-hit effort in 12 contests since he was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas. He's gone 7-for-32 (.219) in that span, adding 12 strikeouts and no walks. The outfielder is at a .188/.266/.297 slash line with three homers, 11 RBI, 12 runs scored and four stolen bases through 154 plate appearances this season. Butler is sharing right field with Daz Cameron, though the lefty-hitting Butler has lost out on some starts versus right-handed pitchers.

Nabs fourth steal Sunday
Butler went 1-for-2 with a stolen base in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Análisis
Butler snapped a brief 0-for-6 skid that had encompassed his last three games, and the steal was his first of the rookie's current big-league stint. Despite Sunday's modest success, Butler hasn't been much better at the plate than he was during his initial tenure with the Athletics from Opening Day through May 13 -- he's carrying a .179 average, .422 OPS and 34.5 percent strikeout rate across the 29 plate appearances he's logged since returning June 18.
