Gaining foothold in lineup
Walker will start in right field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis
Manager Oliver Marmol will keep Walker in the starting nine for the sixth straight game while the outfielder continues to wield a hot bat; he's gone 7-for-20 with three doubles, one walk, two runs and two RBI since returning from the injured list. Until one of Nolan Gorman (back) or Lars Nootbaar (rib) return from the IL, Walker looks like he could have a clear path to regular playing time against both right- and left-handed pitching.

Late add to lineup
Walker will bat seventh and play right field Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Analysis
Walker wasn't in the initial starting nine, but he'll enter the lineup after Nolan Gorman (undisclosed) was scratched. The Cardinals activated Walker from the 10-day injured list Friday morning. He's slashing .210/.267/.295 with three homers and three steals in 191 plate appearances this season.

Officially cleared for return
Walker (abdomen) has been activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Friday's game against Arizona.
Analysis
Walker will rejoin the active roster coming out of the All-Star break after spending nearly a month on the injured list with an abdominal injury. The 23-year-old has struggled this season, owning a .562 OPS, a 33 percent K rate and a 0.85 ISO in 191 plate appearances. Thomas Saggese was optioned to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move.

Making return Friday
The Cardinals plan to activate Walker (appendix) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
The 23-year-old has been sidelined for nearly a month after recovering from a bout of appendicitis, and he'll rejoin the Cardinals coming out of the All-Star break. Walker has yet to find his groove in the majors this year with a .210/.267/.295 slash line and 33 percent strikeout rate in 191 plate appearances, and he also struggled during his 12-game rehab assignment with a .583 OPS. Alec Burleson has settled in as St. Louis' primary right fielder, but Walker still has a decent path to playing time for the immediate future due to Lars Nootbaar (ribs) being on the injured list.
