Delivers run in win

Arias went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Athletics.

Análisis

Arias drove in the only run the Guardians would need with a second-inning single and then scored on a Nolan Jones double. Arias' offensive contributions have been few since early May, when he took over at shortstop after Brayan Rocchio was sent down to Triple-A Columbus. Arias sports a .177/.250/.274 line with one home run and 11 RBI over the last 36 games. In the same number of games in the minors, Rocchio has performed adequately for the Clippers, posting an .852 OPS with 17 extra-base hits, 24 RBI and 24 runs. Guardians' shortstops rank last in average (.181), on-base percentage (.249) and slugging (.251).

Strikeout rate spiking

Arias went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Athletics.

Análisis

Arias struck out multiple times for the sixth time over his last seven games (14 Ks in 22 at-bats). He's always had a tendency to swing and miss -- his 31.2 strikeout percentage in 2025 marks his third consecutive season over 30 percent -- but the versatile infielder has taken it new extremes in June. Arias is batting .185 (10-for-54) with 25 strikeouts (43.1 percent) through 16 contests this month.

Homers in win

Arias went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Giants.

Análisis

Arias had gone 0-for-8 with a walk and five strikeouts over his previous three games. He was given Sunday off ahead of a team off day Monday before returning to the lineup for Tuesday's game. The shortstop has handled the majority of the workload at that position, but he's yet to really separate himself in a playing-time battle that also includes Angel Martinez and Daniel Schneemann in the middle infield. Arias is at a .239/.301/.376 slash line with five homers, 26 RBI, 26 runs scored, 16 doubles and three stolen bases over 67 contests this season. His 29.6 percent strikeout rate, while a bit better than in previous years, continues to hold him back from being a consistent contributor.
