Questionable against Cleveland
Gafford (ankle) has been listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cavaliers.
Analysis
After a strong performance in Friday's win against the Pistons, Gafford may not play in Sunday's game in Cleveland due to left ankle soreness. The 26-year-old big man recorded a double-double in Detroit, finishing with 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and five blocks. The Mavericks are already shorthanded in the frontcourt with Dereck Lively (ankle) and Maxi Kleber (foot) out for a considerable amount of time, which means they could lean on P.J. Washington or Kylor Kelley to help shoulder the load in the paint.

Keeps surging with five swats
Gafford posted 16 points (6-8 FG, 4-6 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and five blocks over 33 minutes during Friday's 117-102 loss to Detroit.
Analysis
Gafford was a menace down low Friday, recording his fifth game of the season with at least five swats to go with his eighth double-double of the year. The veteran big man's fantasy stock continues to skyrocket through his last seven appearances, where he's averaged 18.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.6 assists in 30.4 minutes per game while shooting 70.3 percent from the field. With Dallas' frontcourt ravaged by injuries, Gafford has a clear pathway to dominating the center minutes going forward.

Excellent two-way play
Gafford finished Monday's 130-108 victory over the Wizards with 18 points (8-13 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and five blocks over 24 minutes.
Analysis
Gafford has been making the most of the minutes he's earning in a depleted Mavericks frontcourt, and he's proving to be a reliable presence on both ends of the court for Dallas. Since moving to a starting role Jan. 15 during a 119-116 loss to the Pelicans seven games ago, Gafford is averaging 18.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 2.3 assists per game. With Dereck Lively (ankle) and Maxi Kleber (foot) out for at least a couple of months, Gafford should continue starting for the Mavericks.
