Returns to Marlins lineup

Sanchez (back) will start in right field and bat cleanup in Monday's game versus the Dodgers.

Analysis

Sanchez hasn't played April 30 due to back tightness but is feeling well enough to give it a go in Monday's series opener. He's managed just a .599 OPS in 15 games since returning from an oblique strain.

Tending to back tightness

Sanchez was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's 9-6 win over the Athletics due to back tightness and remains out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale, MLB.com reports.

Analysis

Sanchez hasn't played since Wednesday due to the issue, but the Marlins haven't suggested that the 27-year-old is at risk of landing on the injured list. With Sanchez on the bench Sunday for a third game in a row, the Marlins will roll out an outfield of Ronny Simon, Dane Myers and Kyle Stowers from left to right.

Scratched from lineup Saturday

Sanchez has been removed from Saturday's lineup against the Athletics.

Analysis

Sanchez was originally slated to start in right field and bat fifth, but Miami later updated its lineup with Sanchez no longer listed. Instead, Kyle Stowers has moved from left field to right field, while Ronny Simon is now starting in left. This will be the second straight day out of the lineup for Sanchez, though to this point there's been no indication that he's dealing with any sort of injury.

2 May 2025

Out of lineup Friday

Sanchez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Analysis

Following the team's off day Thursday, the Marlins are getting Sanchez a second consecutive day off, even with right-hander Gunnar Hoglund on the mound for the Athletics. Sanchez is hitting .200/.310/.300 with just one home run, four RBI, three runs scored and an 8:15 BB:K across his first 58 plate appearances since returning from an IL stint to begin the season. With Sanchez sitting Friday, Eric Wagaman, Dane Myers and Kyle Stowers will man the outfield from left to right for Miami.
