Resting up Wednesday

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Analysis

With southpaw Kyle Freeland starting for the Rockies, the Marlins will send Sanchez and Kyle Stowers to the bench to make room for a couple of extra right-handed bats in Javier Sanoja and Heriberto Hernandez. Sanchez started in the first two games of the series and went 5-for-8 with two doubles, two RBI, two runs, one walk and one stolen base.

Produces three-hit game

Sanchez went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a RBI and a run scored during Monday's 6-4 loss to the Rockies.

Analysis

Sanchez wasted little time extending his hit streak to eight games, hitting a ground-rule double in the first inning, then added two more hits on top of it for good measure. The 27-year-old is 13-for-29 during his eight-game heater with three doubles, two home runs and four RBI. He is now slashing .268/.360/.401 for the season.

Sitting Friday

Sanchez is not in Friday's lineup against the Giants.

Analysis

Sanchez had started the last two games the Marlins played against lefty starters, but he'll head to the bench in this one against southpaw Kyle Harrison. With Dane Myers activated and Heriberto Hernandez promoted, the Marlins have more options against southpaws, but Sanchez should still be loosely considered an everyday player.

Swats fourth homer

Sanchez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's win over the Padres.

Analysis

The 27-year-old outfielder took Kyle Hart deep in the fifth inning, kicking off a five-run frame for the Marlins that tied the game at 6-6, en route to an eventual 10-8 victory. Three of Sanchez's four homers on the season have come in the last nine games, a stretch in which he's slashing .314/.415/.657 with seven RBI and eight runs.
