Stays hot at plate

Burger went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and two additional runs scored during Sunday's 7-6 win over the Padres.

Analysis

Burger generated multiple hits for the fourth time in five games, and went yard in a third consecutive contest. The 28-year-old has belted nine homers in 13 games, totaling 14 RBI and 12 runs and batting 19-for-53 (.358) during that stretch. Burger is up to 22 homers this season and has a .768 OPS.

Belts homer No. 20

Burger went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-2 extra-inning loss to the Padres.

Analysis

The 28-year-old slugger opened the scoring in the fourth inning by taking Martin Perez deep, continuing a power surge that has seen Burger launch seven homers in the last 11 games while slashing .311/.347/.800 with 11 RBI. The improved performance at the plate could be due to his reduced defensive responsibilities -- he's played third base only three times during that stretch, lining up at first base and DH four times each. Burger is batting .242 on the season with 20 home runs and 50 RBI in 94 contests.

Goes yard twice in win

Burger went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Reds.

Analysis

Both blasts came off Andrew Abbott, as Burger took the southpaw deep in the first and fifth innings. The 28-year-old has found his power stroke since the All-Star break, slashing .296/.362/.718 over the last 19 games with nine of his 17 homers on the season, but the patchwork lineup around him hasn't given him many opportunities to drive in runs with them -- Burger has only 14 RBI to show for those nine long balls.
