Fields grounders Friday
Rendon (hamstring) progressed to taking groundballs Friday, per MLB.com.
Analysis
Rendon resumed baseball activities earlier in the week, making throws and taking swings in the batting cages. His ability Friday to take grounders -- albeit only on balls that were hit right at him in order to avoid lateral movement -- was another sign of progress, and Rendon is expected to put his strained left hamstring to an even bigger test by jogging Saturday. Rendon remains weeks away from a return, but it's now feasible that he could be back with the Angels by the end of June.

Considers himself ahead of schedule
Rendon (hamstring) resumed baseball activities this week and said Wednesday that he thinks he's ahead of schedule in progressing toward a return, per MLB.com.
Analysis
Rendon has been out since April 20 due to a left hamstring strain, but he recently began ramping up his activity by throwing and taking swings in a batting cage. The third baseman will next progress to jogging Saturday, which will be a significant test of the injured hamstring. While Rendon remains weeks away from a return, he indicated that he considers himself ahead of schedule, explaining, "I'm trying to push it each and every day. Let my body tell me that it's painful, it hurts or it's not ready. So we'll get back as soon as possible."

Resuming baseball activities
Rendon (hamstring) will resume baseball activities this week, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis
Rendon has been shelved since late April with a partial left hamstring tear but is finally ready to begin ramping up his rehab work. It's going to be a slow process and one which will involve a rehab assignment at some point, so Rendon still figures to be several weeks away from a return.
