36 points not enough
Brunson recorded 36 points (14-25 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-9 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals in 35 minutes during Tuesday's 121-111 loss to the Bucks.
Analyse
Brunson continued his strong start to the season, scoring at least 30 points for the third straight game. While the production was certainly more than adequate, the bigger talking point came late in the game when he appeared to hurt his groin. The incident happened whilst being defended by Giannis Antetokounmpo, causing the Knicks to call a timeout. He was able to play out the game, but this is definitely a situation to monitor moving forward.

Analyse
Brunson was inefficient from the field during Opening Night against the Cavaliers on Wednesday, but the All-Star point guard bounced back nicely with a game-high 31 points Friday while connecting on 50.0 percent of his field-goal attempts. Brunson will continue to operate as the focal point of the Knicks' offense and will look to improve on his numbers from the 2024-25 regular season, when he averaged 26.0 points and 7.3 assists over 35.4 minutes per game while shooting 48.8 percent from the field.

Inefficient from field in opener
Brunson closed with 23 points (5-18 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 12-13 FT), five assists and four rebounds in 34 minutes during Wednesday's 119-111 win over Cleveland.
Analyse
Brunson wasn't at his sharpest Wednesday, shooting just 27.8 percent from the field and 11.1 percent from beyond the arc, though steady work at the free-throw line helped him reach 23 points. Even with plenty of capable scorers around him, the 29-year-old remains the driving force of the New York offense and can still find ways to produce when his jumper isn't falling. Last season, the star guard averaged 26.0 points, 7.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from three over 65 regular-season games.
