The left-handed-hitting Tena had been included in the lineup for the first two games of the series while the Nationals faced off against right-handers, but he'll hit the bench Wednesday as southpaw Cristopher Sanchez toes the rubber for Philadelphia. Daylen Lile will get a day off from playing the outfield and will replace Tena as the Nationals' designated hitter.

Analyse
Washington scooped up Jorbit Vivas from the Yankees late in camp to be its top utility option, but Tena is out of minor-league options and will remain on the bench as well, at least for now. Tena slashed .243/.314/.355 over 169 plate appearances last season with zero homers and three steals while seeing most of his time at third base.
