Elevates to leadoff

Carter batted leadoff and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 2-1 win over Colorado.

Analyse

Carter moved up to leadoff because Josh Smith was unavailable due to back soreness. Carter swiped a base for the second consecutive game and is batting .240/.269/.360 in seven games since his return to the majors.

Swipes bag in win

Carter went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 6-1 win over Detroit.

Analyse

Carter stole his first base since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock last week. In six games for Texas, he's batting .273 (6-for-22) with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored. He should continue to get regular starts in center field against right-handers.

Launches first homer

Carter started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 10-3 win over the Tigers.

Analyse

The Rangers turned Comerica Park into a launching pad, homering four times in the first three innings off Jack Flaherty and five times overall. Carter poked his first homer of the season in the second inning. Since being called up, he's started in center field whenever the Rangers have faced a right-hander.

Sitting out versus Skubal

Carter is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Detroit.

Analyse

It's not yet clear whether Carter will be in a strict platoon in center field, but he's sitting out Friday versus lefty Tarik Skubal after starting each of the previous three contests against righties. Sam Haggerty is in center field and batting leadoff for the Rangers in the series opener.

Collects two hits in season debut

Carter started in center field and went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Tuesday's 6-1 win over Boston.

Analyse

Carter was called up from Triple-A Round Rock earlier in the day and made his season debut for the Rangers. Two days earlier, Texas placed its primary center fielder for much of the season, Leody Taveras, on outright waivers, opening up a role for the lefty-hitting Carter. He has an opportunity to take hold of the strong side of a platoon in center. Taveras was eventually claimed by the Mariners and is out of the organization. Carter had one hit in three at-bats against left-handers Tuesday and could become an everyday player if he shows improvement against southpaws (.263 career OPS).
