Gameplay Enhancements

The 2025 Sorare MLB season isn’t just about playing and winning – it’s about building, collecting, and curating your ultimate roster. With Sorare MLB’s latest gameplay enhancements, Sorare MLB  offers more ways to grow your collection and connect with the game you love.

Let’s dive into the new Gameplay enhancements we’ve been cooking up for the upcoming season!

XP Updates

New to MLB, Managers will earn XP as a reward that fills an XP Reserve. This allows Managers to allocate XP to the Cards they want to level up. Managers fill up their XP Reserve for each scarcity excluding Common.

Managers can win XP in competitions. This gives Managers the opportunity to accumulate XP then use it to level up cards, progress, and have a better chance at unlocking top rewards in the future.

There is a cap on the maximum XP that can be accumulated. Your XP Reserve cannot exceed 30,000 XP per scarcity. Managers will receive a notification when they are close to reaching the XP cap.

Please note that your cards will continue to earn XP when used in a competition lineup, based on the following simplified formula:

(Total Lineup Base Score x 2) ÷ 7

An Enhanced, Intuitive Interface

Managing XP and leveling up Cards will be smoother than ever. In My Cards, apply accumulated XP to level up selected Cards—only the exact amount needed for the next level will be deducted from the XP Reserve.

Cooldown Period:

After a Card levels up, a cooldown period will apply before it can level again. The duration of the cooldown varies by Card level—the higher the level, the longer the cooldown period.

Here’s a breakdown of XP Level thresholds, cooldown periods, and bonuses:

Transition

When the new system goes live, Cards will retain their current XP bonus levels. XP Level bonuses previously in 0.5% increments will be rounded up to the next full percentage point. For example, a Level 13 card with a 6.5% bonus will become Level 7 with a 7% bonus. The transition to the new system will begin on March 17th.

Training teams

Starting Game Week 1, Training will no longer be a competition. The revamped XP Level system simplifies XP management by centralizing actions and cards’ progression, making training teams unnecessary, and removing the need to submit extra lineups solely for XP purposes.

Energy: Revitalize Your Collection for the 2025 Season

Introducing Energy – a new item to enhance how you utilize your cards from previous seasons. This season, we’re doing away with In-Season vs. Classic competitions and dedicated Classic slots. Now, Managers can use a combination of In-Season Cards, Energy, and Classic Cards to submit the best possible lineup their gallery has to offer and compete for the best rewards.

Energy grants In-Season eligibility to a Classic Card of your choice for a single competition entry. This allows Classic Cards to be eligible for any competition regardless of In-Season requirements. However, Energized Cards do not get the 5% In-Season scoring bonus. Energy is specific to each scarcity, meaning Limited Energy can only be used on Limited cards, Rare Energy on Rare cards, and so on.

When In-Season Cards are required,  Energizing a Classic Card will cost 25 units of Energy for Biweekly competitions and 10 units of Energy for Daily competitions. As long as Managers have enough Energy, they can line up as many Classic Cards as they need. This offers flexibility to use your best cards from any season in the competitions with the biggest rewards.

How Can I Earn Energy?

Energy is acquired primarily through gameplay. To kick off the season, all Managers will receive Energy at each scarcity (250 Limited, 250 Rare, 500 Super Rare, 500 Unique), providing immediate flexibility. Throughout the season, Energy can be won by competing in our newest Biweekly competition, Challenger.

How Can I Use Energy?

To use Energy, simply compose your lineup and select an eligible Classic Card. The option to apply Energy will appear directly in the lineup creation screen, displaying your current Energy balance and the cost to energize the selected card. Once energized, the card can be used in the selected competition. If you cancel your lineup before the competition locks, the used Energy is fully refunded, giving you the flexibility to adjust your strategy.

Update to Scoring Matrix: No Hitters

One of the most iconic achievements in baseball is the No Hitter—a rare feat that cements a pitcher’s place in history. With only 326 No-Hitters in MLB history, it’s a moment that deserves to be celebrated in a big way.

That’s why we’re introducing a new scoring category to reward No-Hitters with 30 points in Sorare MLB. These game-defining performances will now be scored when a single pitcher records a No Hitter in a game, giving your Starting Pitchers a chance to shine like never before.

New Player Tiers

At Sorare MLB, we’re always looking for ways to make the game more dynamic, fair, and exciting for our Managers. That’s why we’re happy to announce a new tiering format for the 2025 season!

With the goal of creating even more granularity and precision in player placement, we’ve expanded our tiers from Star to Tier 5. This new structure allows us to more accurately categorize players based on their performance, potential, and impact on the field.

Essence and the Card Factory

Essence and the Card Factory are making their debuts in the 2025 Sorare MLB season, adding a new way for Managers to win.

Essence is an in-game resource in Sorare that allows Managers to craft Cards in the Card Factory. Through Biweekly and Daily gameplay, Managers will have the chance to accumulate Essence every day there’s a slate of MLB games. In order to start crafting in the Card Factory, Managers must accumulate 1,000 Essence in a specific scarcity. When creating a card, these are the odds of getting a card of a given tier.

Please note Essence accumulation rates are subject to change as we monitor the Card economy. We will monitor and adjust if necessary, with ample communication ahead of time.

2025 MLB Competitions

Get ready for an action-packed season! At the heart of it all are our Biweekly Competitions, where your 2025 collections will truly shine. Every Game Week, we’re rewarding a minimum of $12,500 in total cash prizes.* The more Managers who join the action, the bigger the prizes may get!

This season, most competitions will require 100% In-Season Cards, but with Energy, you’ll still be able to field Classic Cards from prior seasons in some of our biggest competitions. It’s the perfect way to keep your favorite players in the game while building your 2025 lineup. And in the Challenger competition, Classic Cards can be used with no restriction.

Let’s take a look at this year’s slate of competitions:

Champion

Champion is where the biggest rewards reside. To compete at this level, Managers need to field a team of 100% In-Season cards across all scarcities. The rewards are substantial, with a minimum of $12,500 in total cash prizes, Cards, Essence, and XP awarded each Game Week across scarcities.*

Here’s what you’ll be competing for in Champion Competitions:

*Rewards may be rewarded in cash or ETH

Please note that Unique Champion Competitions will require 7 Unique Cards.

All Star

All-Star will remain a mixed scarcity competition, offering a pathway for Managers to compete at a new scarcity. While not requiring all of the same scarcity, All-Star does offer bonuses for including a higher scarcity card in your lineup and requires 100% In-Season Cards. Managers will be battling for Cards and Essence to help take their Gallery to the next level. Here’s what you can expect for All Star:

Limited

  • Max 3 Common Cards
  • Limited Cards receive 5% Bonus

Rare

  • Max 3 Limited Cards
  • Rare Cards Receive 10% Bonus

Super Rare

  • Max 3 Rare Cards
  • Rare Cards Receive 10% Bonus
  • Super Rare Cards Receive 20% Bonus

All Star rewards will consist of Cards, Essence, and XP. Here’s a full breakdown of what you can expect from All Star competitions:

Challenger

Looking to maximize your Sorare MLB experience? Challenger competitions offer a great opportunity to do just that. Every Game Week, Managers can utilize any of their favorite cards and have the opportunity to win Cards, Essence, Energy, Market Credits, and XP.  All while requiring no Energy for Classic Cards.

Here’s what you can win from Challenger Competitions:

Please note that Unique Challenger Competitions will require 7 Unique Cards.

Minors

New to Sorare MLB and want to hone your skills? Minors competitions are the perfect starting point! Exclusively for Common cards, Minors provides a fun environment to experiment with lineup strategies, learn the ropes of the Sorare MLB ecosystem, and earn Limited Cards!

Multi Entry

Have some cards in your gallery that have been itching to step up to the plate? Multi Entry will be available for most Biweekly Limited, Rare, and Super Rare Competitions.

Each lineup you submit is a fresh chance to expand your collection, with rewards stacking up as you dominate multiple entries in a single competition.

Introducing: Daily Swing and Daily Derby

Get ready for two exciting Daily competitions for all scarcities: Daily Swing and Daily Derby!

Daily Swing

Daily Swing brings a daily twist in strategy, with every part of your gallery tested. Experiment with scoring variants and test new strategies to earn Essence and Cards! No Energy is required to join the fun.

Each day, a new set of rules will be revealed for Daily Swing, challenging Managers to put together the best roster from every corner of their gallery.

Please note that Unique Daily Swing will require 3 Unique Cards.

Daily Derby

Daily Derby offers a chance to win bigger rewards like Cards, Essence, and more on a daily basis! The competition will feature our standard scoring matrix, with no changes to rules. To compete, you will need 100% In-Season Cards. Energy can be used to grant Classic Cards eligibility.

Here’s what Daily Derby has to offer:

Please note that Unique Daily Derby will require 3 Unique Cards.

Daily Player Locks

Cards in daily gameplay lock individually, not per lineup. Each Card locks right before the start of that player’s first game of the day, giving Managers flexibility to navigate late scratches and injuries. While players are locked in the lineup as soon as their game starts, any players whose games haven’t begun can still be swapped out.

Note that if a Card is used in a Daily Gameplay lineup, it cannot be used simultaneously in a Biweekly lineup and vice versa. Managers will have the option to cancel a lineup by using a Card in another competition if they choose to do so.

Beat the Game and Chases

This season, we’re introducing a brand new way to play: Beat the Game—a fun and exciting way to test your skills, earn rewards, and faceoff against Sorare itself! While we don’t currently have plans to run Chases in the same format as last year, Beat the Game and other new challenges are designed to keep the experience fresh, engaging, and rewarding for all Managers.

The more Managers who join and play, the more we’ll reward the community—so let’s keep growing and have a great season together!

Stay tuned—more details about Beat the Game will be released in the coming weeks!

Next Up…The Future of Collecting

With all these exciting gameplay enhancements in place, the MLB 2025 Season is shaping up to be the best yet. But that’s not all—stay tuned, because our next update will dive deep into the world of collecting, with exciting new features designed to reward your passion and dedication!
