It’s March, and that means Opening Day is almost back. Sorare: MLB 2024 is returning too, and we’re excited to show off our new card designs for the 2024 season. Here’s what you can expect when these cards hit the marketplace later today:
- We’re bringing 3D & augmented reality interactivity to MLB Pro cards
- Scouting has never been easier, with the ability to set auction notifications and track them in our mobile app as well as the introduction of Instant Buy (full launch March 11)
- List-or-play comes to Sorare: MLB
Here’s your guide to the Sorare: MLB 2024 card launch.
Your Sorare: MLB 2024 Pro Cards
For the 2024 season, Sorare: MLB Pro Cards bring a fresh take on card designs that embody our core design principles of simplicity, innovation, collectability, authenticity, and customization—key aspects that have already set the standard across all our sports.
In keeping true to our ties to sport, it’s crucial that these MLB cards not only resonate with these foundational elements but also stand out with their unique flair, tailored specifically to baseball enthusiasts.
The design concept introduces a minimalist and premium aesthetic, characterized by a novel “glass window” feature that brings player imagery to the forefront. This design strategy not only enhances the visual appeal but also paves the way for customization possibilities when it comes to Special Edition variants, all while maintaining the cohesive and recognizable identity of Sorare.
Alongside the new scarcity changes, we elevated the aesthetics to the 2024 cards to visually reinforce and celebrate the collectible aspect of our cards.
First editions
The No. 1 mint of each player card will be given a distinctive badge on its serial number.
Jersey match
If a player’s card serial number matches their jersey number, a special badge will be applied to the serial number.
Age & Birthplace
Sorare: MLB Managers can now identify each player’s age & country of birth in their gallery by checking the lower left corner of their 2024 cards. Special Competitions anyone? Note that the age displayed on a Card for the entire season is the player’s age on July 1st, 2024. Read more about our age cutoff rules.
Sorare: MLB’s first 3D cards
This season, we’ve revolutionized our Sorare: MLB cards by introducing new dimensions: 3D & augmented reality. Our cards have transitioned from static to dynamic, offering an interactive experience when exploring Player Pages and Managers’ Collections. Through our website and iOS mobile app, you can now bring your favorite players to life with these immersive 3D cards via AR. After acquiring a 2024 Pro Card, you can access and explore the 3D cards on the card page.
Marketplace Opens March 7
Sorare: MLB will officially launch new season Pro Cards on Thursday, March 7. On that date, 2024 cards will hit the marketplace and the lobby will open with the first competitions of the new season.
Note that no additional 2023 Pro Cards will enter circulation, either by auction or rewards.
Scouting Has Never Been Easier
The Sorare card buying experience is taking a significant leap forward, making it easier and more accessible for Managers to scout and build their dream teams, whether they’re on the go or from the comfort of their homes. Here’s a closer look at the enhancements across different facets of the marketplace:
Auctions
The introduction of the Auction tab on the Sorare mobile apps represents a big step toward feature parity between web & mobile. Managers can browse through all ongoing auctions, customize filters for their scouting purposes, and opt to be notified about auctions of interest. These notifications, which are consistent across Web, iOS and Android platforms as well, ensure that Managers are always informed, allowing for direct bidding from mobile devices with just a tap.
Instant Buy
To complement the Auction and Manager Sales, Sorare is introducing the “Instant Buy” feature, which allows Managers to instantly purchase newly minted Limited Cards at a fixed price. This Instant Buy option, found under a new tab in the Marketplace, presents an array of In-Season Pro Cards for immediate purchase. We’ll launch on March 11th, ensuring that pricing is optimized based on initial auction data.
Cash Wallet
Sorare is dedicated to enhancing the buying experience for U.S. Managers with significant improvements that cater to their needs. The platform now supports deposits via PayPal. Additionally, the integration of USD Credit Cards has been refined, allowing for deposits and purchases through Manager Sales, going live imminently. These updates not only simplify the payment process but also align with Sorare’s commitment to providing a seamless and inclusive experience for its global community of Managers.
List or play
Following the positive impact in Football & NBA, we are bringing List or Play to Sorare: MLB. Starting with Game Week 1, Managers who play a card in a Sorare: MLB lineup will not be able to simultaneously list it on the Manager Sales Marketplace or include it in a trade offer (i.e. Managers cannot list and play cards at the same time).
Once a sale or trade transaction is complete, those cards are immediately removed from lineups and those lineups will no longer score points for that Game Week. If a Manager receives a direct offer for a player card they have in a current or future lineup, that lineup is only invalidated if/when the Manager accepts the offer.
For example, if a Manager lists a card on the Marketplace, it cannot be entered in a lineup unless the Manager acknowledges the card will be delisted on the Marketplace. To list a card on the Marketplace — for sale or to include in a trade — Managers need to confirm the listing and acknowledge it will remove the player card from lineups and training teams (both live and upcoming). Managers will receive a warning prompt that listing a card on the Marketplace will invalidate their lineup, and vice-versa.
Common Cards & Draft
Starting today, you’ll be able to draft your 2024 Common Cards. The Common Card draft will evolve as we add more teams and players to the population. Note that you can re-draft your Common roster as many times as you want before Game Week 1 locks on March 28.
We’re dedicated to maintaining a balanced and fair playing field for all new Sorare Managers beginning their journey. As a result, similar to last season, we’ll be retiring Season 2 (2023) Common Cards. As always, your Pro Cards remain untouched; once collected, you own these cards forever.
Updated Mint Counts
As we noted in last week’s update, Sorare: MLB 2024 Pro Card mint counts will change as follows:
- Limited Cards: 1,000 per player per season (previously 5,000)
- Rare Cards: 100 per player per season (previously 1,000)
- Super Rare Cards: 10 per player per season (previously 100)
- Unique Cards: 1 (same as previous)
You can buy, sell, win, or trade these four Pro Card types. Common Cards will still have an unlimited quantity throughout the season. They cannot be bought, sold, or traded with other Managers.
We can’t wait for you to get in the game – welcome to Sorare: MLB 2024 and get ready to get in the game!
